@NHNREMTB sorry i thought that you said shes already eaten her bugs in the video. some idiots on youtube have know idea how to care for iguanas, and they feed them crickets
@HERPTOLOGY44 My iguana doesn’t eat insects, not really sure where you got that from. She’s quite spoiled – eats collards, turnip greens, kale, berries, peppers, and the list goes on. I do have a bearded dragon (and greens) & a crested gecko (and repashy) that get insects though.
@janessia216 Thanks Yeah, its a learning curve. Started out with no clue whatsoever. She’s a lovely girl though and grew on me fast. Nowadays, I am pretty much her servant. I am hoping to build her a new cage for both indoors and an outdoor cage (think huge dog pen size) so she can enjoy the summer.
nice she looks so healthy, love your iggy she is so cute. If you want her to gain little more weight and more weight on legs feed more heavy foods. Btw that funky coil light is a uvb light you dont really need a night light… as long as it doesnt go under 60 at night shes fine
@NHNREMTB When she’s out of her enclosure (often) she is curious about everyone and everything but still hasn’t gotten to the point where she’d let me hold her on my laps, etc. She has bit my son (he’s a teen) a few times now but I honestly think it was more of a “is that food?” thing, than aggression. It is technically his iguana and he handles her more than anyone else. She is my constant companion in the kitchen & another animal to spoil. I’m the only one that seems to get her to relax.
@grendeltherediguana I can relate to the moody iguana thing. “Rex” (still no female name) can be quite the grumpy diva. When we rescued her we were told she was friendly & hand tame. Yeah, no. She wanted to rip everyone including her former owners apart. She has her moments when she lets me love on her, and really seems to like it, then other times she’s hissing and arching up. I just constantly go into her enclosure and mess with her. Some would frown but it helps me from getting chewed on.
Wow that will be tall! Grendel’s current cage is 6x5x2.5.
He’s a lot less skittery than when I got him, but he’s super moody. For a few weeks at a time he’s happy if still not entirely socialized, but then there’s a week or two of pure hate. It’s funny, he’s nice outside his cage but pretty territorial inside. I think it might have to do with his shed cycle, but I’ll have to post a video — he gets pretty aggressive!
@grendeltherediguana Thanks She’s coming around. She still has some behavior issues – moody girl. But she’ll get better with time. About three more feet of climb space is in the works of being added onto the cage up top. Pondering giving her a “hide” area up there. She also free roams in the house.
I’m heading over to your page now.
She looks healthy and happy! I have a male named Grendel who is about 3 1/2 years old (check out my videos if you want to see him). I’m going to have to build him a new cage soon, and I’m definitely going to try to find some logs like what you have… they look great!

@NHNREMTB iguanas should not be feed insects! they eat strictly vegetables.
@janessia216 Thanks
