En la lucha por la supervivencia, los animales son capaces de hacer las cosas más increíbles. “Life” es una espectacular serie documental de naturaleza producida por la BBC. Diez capítulos rodados en alta definición que persiguen un ambicioso objetivo: ser la exploración definitiva de la diversidad del mundo animal. A lo largo de la serie se podrán observar todo tipo de comportamientos asombrosos que desafían el concepto que tenemos del resto de seres que pueblan el planeta. In Mexico we met the mystical Carlos in Ensenada who introduced us to forgiving friends and the unforgiving heat of the desert; in Guatemala we met the lovely Samuel on the first chicken bus we caught (a hyper talkative english speaking Guatemalan man who kept assuming we were American because his kids lived in the US); and then within 5 minutes of arriving in San Ignacio in Belize we met ‘Blackstar’ (or ‘Starblack’ as he claimed his name was also reversible) a 40 yr old Rustafari who turned out to be the oddest. Let me see if I can give this to you (albeit it a significantly shortened version) as straight as I was given it… Blackstar claimed to be a millionaire doctor who was now selling icecream but who had personally met the Queen of England and had married a Miss Australia beauty queen whilst on an outback medical assignment in Darwin in the 90′s and had flown her to Belize …

Breakfast appears to have about 8 courses; cereal, fruit, omelettes, meat pie, hash browns, toast, pancakes, refried beans, fruit, croissants and even cake!!! After managing about 4 courses we very heavily packed our bags and left our luxury all inclusive lifestyle back to good ole back packing!!! Carrying an extra two stone between us in beer and food, we boarded the local bus, but unfortunately this became packed hot and sweaty and today my claustrophobic head was not up for coping with it so swiftly we exited after which I collapsed on the side of the road right in a mossie nest, nice! Ads dragged me up and we started the hike to the bus station still being eaten alive by the swarm stuck to us!! To cut a long story short a taxi it finally was, so the two of us and 50 mozzies got in and frantically with the driver tried to swat them all on route, joy! That day saw us on the road again following the Carribean coastline to a small town called Tulum where more famous Maya ruins exist…. A joyous …

It’s been quite a while since I got to write you the last time. I have seen so many things since then, that I don’t even know where to start. Well, I left you guys off in Singapore, and the following day I arrived in Perth, Southwest Australia. Tony, a friend that I met back in Vienna last year while studying on exchange there, picked me up from the airport and I stayed at his place for 4 days. Speaking of the airport, it was absolute madness what I experienced there, especially because it was totally unexpected…After going through passport control, a security guy already pulled me aside to check my passpoet again and to ask me some questions…you know this stuff like where I’m from, what I’m doing in Australia, how long I’ll stay etc. It was a pretty thorough questioning though of about 5 minutes…I thought to myself: “They always pick on me, I don’t know, there must be something dangerous about my looks:-)”. Anyways, after getting through that, the customs guys totally ripped me apart basically…keeping me there for over an hour, opening all my bags, checking for food, drugs, everything.
