The King Cobra is fierce, agile, and can deliver a large quantity of highly potent venom in a single bite. It is one of the most dangerous and feared Asiatic snakes King Cobras, like other snakes, receive chemical information (“smell”) via their forked tongues, which pick up scent particles and transfer them to a special sensory receptor (Jacobson’s Organ) located in the roof of its mouth.[1] When the scent of a meal has been detected, the snake will flick its tongue to gauge the prey’s direction (the twin forks of the tongue acting in stereo); it will also rely on its keen eyesight (King Cobras are able to detect moving prey almost 100 m [300 feet] away), intelligence[6] and sensitivity to earth-borne vibration to track its prey.[7] Following envenomation, the King Cobra will begin to swallow its struggling prey while its toxins begin the digestion of its victim.[1] King Cobras, as with all other snakes, do not have rigidly fixed jaws. Whilst taking the two Black, Flat Coated Retrievers out for a walk, the get up to all sorts of things. Although gross, Coprophagia (or ‘poop eating’ to you and me) is quite normal in working dogs such as these. There are many reasons why a dog may do this, I’ll add a few links in for further reading. NB Neglect or fear can be a factor when it comes to this behaviour, but rest assured, that Inca and Deeja are very well kepy and much loved pets. Their diet is excellent and they obviously feel the need to supplement themselves, or hide their scent or a number of other very natural reasons – as do most hunting dogs. All of my species have the same humidity/temp likings along with their diet. I Feed them Cricket and Mealworms. The Fish and Frogs I feed dried bloodworms – flake food – frozen shrimp…. Most people might not agree with me for having all these species in one environment.. I believe if you provide the species with a clean,safe, and healthy environment, it will not stress your creatures out. In the time I have had this set up, I have NEVER seen any of the species fight with another but I have seen them become best of friends, sleeping and eating together like they are the same species…. We feed our animals EVERY DAY! A very healthy diet. This is to better explain what I mean by “salad”. Dusted once a week with mineral all, daily with repti calcium with D3, the Uros get Uromastics Dust every other day, and the Tortoises get Mazuri Tortoise diet on top of their salads!
